We do realize that completing all three events in one day is a grueling event. We look forward to seeing who is up for the challenge. After discussions with a variety of interested athletes, we've decided to add a team division to the competition. Rules as follows:
- Entry fee will remain at $40 per athlete whether you are competing in one, two or all three events.
- Athlete may compete in one, two or three events for the $40 entry fee.
- To be eligible for Maine Fittest Man or Woman title one athlete must complete all three events.
- To be eligible for the Team Award the Team must have a valid time for each event. A team may consist of two or three athletes
- Each team must declare at time of registration who is on the team and which events each person will be completing.
- Teams can consist of all men, all women or be mixed. Their will be only one team award. The events have built in scaling for men and women so there is no significant advantage/disadvantage to a mixed team.
Way to go Crossfit Central Maine! Great idea.
So in that vein, I did 7000# this morning: 52 x 135# for 12:45, grace split of 5:27. Yeah, the wheels fell off. 47m 205#
Ok, there are some young guns out there already hammering these workouts. Let's hear about them.

Good to hear from you Jim. There is a young gun or two. I haven't done this one yet. Still nursing a biceps tendon but there's been a bunch of discussion about which is the best way to go - heavy or light. I may try light after the end of the month.
We'll have an entry link up soon!

I shouldn't say this, but I did the 46 x 155# version this morning and it took 5 minutes longer than the 135# one. Yeah, I suffered. The main page article on scaling indicates similar results. Seems like the smart money is on 75# snatches.
By the way, running with a med ball sucks!

We've had a similar experience that the heavier weights are more time consuming. Good to hear you're training hard!

What are the rules on pullup technique. All the way down? Type of grip allowed? Can we swing etc.
Also, what is the shape and dimensions of the bag of sand?

Pullup standard is full extension of the elbow at the bottom and chin over the bar. However you get from A to B is up to you. Kipp, deadhang, butterfly, etc. The chin must break the plane of the bar that is parallel to the ground.

Does anyone want to post their times on any of the events?
Posted by: Get fit | 07/11/2009 at 08:20 PM
Bill,
Everyone keeps asking me how many people are going to be there. How many people have signed up so far? I have given information out to several people that I exercise with at Champion's in Waterville. At the very least, there may be some people coming by to just check things out.

As of right now it is a very small field. We came up with the idea late spring, talked it up among other gyms and Maine CrossFit affiliates but there is a definite shortage of entrants at this point.
We are committed to running it regardless of the number of entrants. I encourage anyone who has any experience at these types of workouts to enter and get some experience in a competition.
There will only be one winner, but we'll have a good time competing and getting in some tough workouts with like-minded folks from Maine.
Right now we have 5 men and 4 women with a few that have told me personally they're competing but haven't signed up yet. Pretty good odds if you ask me. Thanks for spreading the word. Hopefully some more of your Champion's folks will give it a try.
